Man charged with using fraudulent food benefit cards at Morrisville Walmart, warrants show

MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A man is facing more than 20 felony charges connected to the fraudulent usage of food benefit cards at a Walmart in Morrisville between October and December, warrants show.

According to warrants filed by the Morrisville Police Department, 45-year-old Jermaine Anthony Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., is accused of possessing 30 counterfeit Electronic Benefit Transfer cards that were created from stolen identification information. The victims of the identity theft were from Hawaii and Tennessee.

In the first incident on Oct. 29, according to the warrants, Smith allegedly used two of the fraudulent EBT cards to purchase $1,114 worth of baby formula from a Walmart on Davis Drive in Morrisville.
