Durham man facing more than 50 burglary charges in 3 central NC counties, warrants show

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Seven months after being convicted of burglary, a Durham man was arrested Tuesday on more than 50 new charges, warrants show.

Last Friday, Dec. 12, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office said 24-year-old Keshaun Christopher Byrd was identified as the suspect in a series of break-ins and thefts near Chapel Hill in Chatham County in August. The incidents involved stolen vehicles, stolen firearms, a home break-in, and and attempted safe theft.

According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Byrd was also identified as one of the suspects in 15 vehicle and attached garage break-ins that happened around Raleigh and Wake Forest between Nov. 23 and Dec. 6. In one incident, Byrd is accused of stealing a gun safe worth about $1,300 that had about $600-$800 of ammunition inside…
