Raleigh Celebrates Black Trailblazers at John P. “Top” Green African American Cultural Center Event

Living Legends: C.A.R.V.E. into Black Raleigh will celebrate local leaders who have driven change and progress within the Black community. According to the City of Raleigh, the event will be hosted at the John P. “Top” Green African American Cultural Center in Raleigh.

On February 8, 2026, the event will feature a panel discussion with Dr. Paul Baker, Dr. James T. Roberson Jr., Frances Lonnette Williams, Rozalyn Blair-Sanders, SGT Patricia Harris, and SFC Elree Smith, representing art, education, religion, and military service. Organizers note that these individuals play a central role in preserving local history and guiding its future.

As per the city’s release, discussion themes will include “Roots & Rise,” highlighting the panelists’ backgrounds; “Breaking Barriers,” focusing on the paths they forged; and “Building the Future,” offering guidance for upcoming generations. “Legacy & Love” will honor the dedication and leadership of each panelist…
