Lynch considered for parole 37 years after deadly robbery

A Mount Airy man serving life in prison for a 1988 robbery and murder is under consideration for parole by the N.C. Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission.

Joey E. Lynch, 57, is being reviewed for release through the Mutual Agreement Parole Program nearly 37 years after the crime, according to a notification sent Monday in compliance with state statute.

A Surry County jury convicted Lynch on Jan. 17, 1990, of second-degree murder in the Oct. 25, 1988, shooting death of David Lee Carlisle, a former Surry County sheriff’s deputy, at Carlisle’s mobile home at 560 Preston Lane in the Holly Springs community…
