RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two suspects are at large after a gun went off during a traffic stop in Raleigh Tuesday afternoon, police said.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers attempted a traffic stop on a white 2018 Honda Accord in the area of New Bern Avenue and Beacon Lake Drive just after 1 p.m. The vehicle was occupied by the driver, 19-year-old Norvell Young, and a passenger, 21-year-old Jose Collado.
Police said Collado left the vehicle and fled on foot while in possession of a firearm. During the foot pursuit, Collado tossed the firearm away, which caused it to fire a shot as it hit the ground.
According to Raleigh police, Young remained in the vehicle while officers were chasing Collado and fled the scene in the Honda Accord.
Collado is charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession of a firearm by a felon, and relaying, delaying, or obstructing an officer, according to Raleigh police…
