3 women arrested after high-speed chase ends on US 264 near Zebulon, deputies say

ZEBULON, N.C. (WNCN) — Three Greenville women were arrested following a high-speed chase that ended when the driver finally stopped along U.S. 64/264 near Zebulon late Friday morning, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver of a Dodge Journey stopped around 11:20 a.m., initially blocking one lane heading east near mile marker 436 just past N. Arendell Avenue, which is N.C. 96, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation data and cameras.

As of 11:45 a.m., eastbound traffic was backed up about three miles. Both lanes reopened at 11:50 a.m., but there were still traffic back-ups.

The chase began just before 11 a.m. when a Wake County deputy spotted a Dodge Journey speeding and tried to stop the car on Interstate 40 near Interstate 87, according to a Wake County Sheriff’s Office news release…
