A teacher was killed early Saturday after a man broke into her home and attacked her, authorities investigating the case have revealed.
Raleigh police said officers were called around 6.30am to a home in the 800 block of Clay Street after the victim, identified as Zoe Welsh, called 911 to report that a man was inside her house.
While on the phone with dispatchers, the suspect began assaulting her, police stated. Officers arrived to find Welsh with life-threatening injuries and provided aid until paramedics transported her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
