Buddhist Monks press on with NC Peace Walk despite looming winter storm

NORTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Despite the frigid weather, a group of Buddhist monks continued their long-distance Walk for Peace on Saturday, Day 91 of their journey from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C.

The monks arrived around 11 a.m. Saturday at Greg Poole Jr. All Faiths Chapel after walking through Wake County. A planned outdoor peace talk during lunch was canceled due to the cold.

“We originally planned to have a peace talk today at our lunch location outdoors. However, due to the cold weather and to protect the health and comfort of the venerable monks and everyone attending, we have cancelled the peace talk at lunch today,” they shared.
