Virtual learning days leave parents scrambling for child care

RALEIGH, N.C. — Snow days aren’t what they used to be. In the aftermath of last weekend’s ice storm, dozens of schools across the state shifted from in-person classes to asynchronous remote learning, forcing many parents to find child care as they still have to go to work.

When Wake and Durham counties announced a remote learning day, families were left asking the same question: Who’s going to watch the kids?
