On January 29, 2026, at approximately 6:43 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department’s Violent Crime Action Team (VCAT) conducted an investigation into suspected criminal activity following concerns reported by community members.
As a result of the investigation, officers conducted a traffic stop involving 28-year-old Ran’dias Jacobs of Raleigh, North Carolina. During the stop, Jacobs was found to be in possession of approximately 115 grams of marijuana. Jacobs was taken into custody and charged with the following:
