Police chase on US 70 in North Carolina ends in fiery crash; suspect accused of leaving woman in burning car

CLAYTON, N.C. (WNCN) — A wanted man took off from a Clayton Walmart Thursday afternoon, leading officers in a chase before a fiery crash and later manhunt along US 70, police said.

The incident began around 12:30 p.m. when officers approached two people in a 2013 Chevrolet Impala in the parking lot of Walmart at 805 Town Centre Blvd. in Clayton, according to a Clayton Police Department news release.
