Some restaurants make a first impression. For us, Sixty Vines in Raleigh’s North Hills made its mark over its first sixty days. From a behind-the-scenes walk-through, a VIP night, Friends ’n Family dinner invite, lunch and brunch visits, and drinks at the bar, we had a chance to watch it come alive—and it didn’t disappoint.
Sixty Vines is part of a small but growing collection of wine-forward restaurants across the U.S. The concept is simple but clever: up to 60 wines on tap at any time, poured from stainless-steel kegs for freshness and to reduce waste. Guests can enjoy a glass, a carafe, or a flight without committing to a whole bottle, making it easy to try something new—or stick to your favorite. The new Raleigh location brings all of that to North Hills—a walkable district perfect for dining, shopping, and gathering with friends.
We were invited for a pre-opening sneak peek to tour the space, learn about the concept, meet the team, visit the rooftop, and sample small bites alongside media and influencers. The atmosphere was lively and relaxed, a preview of what the restaurant would offer when fully open.
That evening, the team at Sixty Vines pulled out all the stops and offered the guests attending a table full of cheese and charcuterie, including samples of some of their upcoming mocktails, and everyone went home with a bottle of sparkling wine—and we also got a Sixty Vines construction helmet we now have stored away for later use—maybe?
In early December, there was the VIP cocktail party, which seemed to be the “if you’re in the know, you got the invitation” event to experience what Sixty Vines will be when it opens to the public. We met other influencers, wine distributors, local media, and even North Hills patriarch, John Kane, himself! This night, we were able to try any of the pizza/flatbread samples, another photograph-worthy cheese and charcuterie spread, cocktails, and, of course, incredible wines. Daou. Krupp Brothers. Stolpman and even Hobbs. This place knows its West Coast wineries! We were also introduced to Sixty Vines CEO Jeff Carcara, whom Dathan had the privilege of chatting with for a previous article in Midtown Magazine…
