Hedingham mass shooter to spend life in prison without parole, judge rules

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The largest mass shooting in Raleigh’s history has ended in a life sentence without the possibility of parole for Austin Thompson.

Judge Paul Ridgeway, before handing down his judgment, directed attention to the victims, reflecting on what he had learned about each of them.

Family members, including the wife of a Raleigh police officer killed in the shooting, Gabe Torres, were visibly emotional as their family members were recognized.
