An early Sunday crash on I-40 East near Jones Sausage Road left one person dead and two others injured after a Lexus slammed into a box truck that had pulled onto the shoulder. The passenger in the Lexus, identified by troopers as 22-year-old Tynell Streeter Jr. of Clayton, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lexus, 27-year-old Arnel Michael Christian, was hospitalized with serious injuries and later arrested. The box-truck occupant suffered minor injuries, and investigators say speed and impairment were factors in the wreck.
