Giving a hoot: Wake County deputy rescues injured owl

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (WBTV) – One Wake County deputy had an unusual passenger after receiving a call about injured wildlife.

Deputy Rodgers responded to reports of an injured owl on Hilltop Needmore Road in Fuquay-Varina, the department said on Feb. 12. The owl, which appeared to be a barred owl, was placed in Rodgers’ car and taken to Wake County Animal Control.

From there, it was taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center…
