DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — An eight-month investigation into store thefts in North Carolina and bordering states led to arrests by Durham County deputies during a Saturday raid in Durham, officials said.
The arrests of two men broke up a “sophisticated retail theft ring” which had ripped off various stories including Home Depot, Target, Lowe’s, and Walmart, according to a Durham County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The probe of thefts in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia culminated in a search warrant executed at a home in the 800 block of Liberty Street near downtown Durham, just west of N. Alston Avenue, deputies said.
“Inside the home, authorities recovered a massive cache of stolen goods, including power tools, televisions, electronics, small appliances, and household products,” the release said…
