CLAYTON — Deputies with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded Thursday to a report of a suspicious vehicle on River Dell Townes Avenue.
Deputies located the vehicle and spoke with a man inside. During the encounter, the driver abruptly sped away. A deputy attempted a traffic stop, and a pursuit followed. Authorities said speeds exceeded 100 mph as the chase continued through Johnston County into Wake County.
The pursuit ended when the driver crashed on Interstate 40 near Jones Sausage Road. No other vehicles were involved in the crash…
