On March 1 around 10:13 a.m., Raleigh Water’s Sewer Maintenance Division was notified of a sanitary sewer overflow within the 6000 block of Osprey Landing Drive in Wendell.
When crews arrived, utility responders found an active overflow from sanitary manhole SMH197597, actively discharging at an estimated rate of 12 gallons per minute. Staff took immediate action to stop the overflow and reduce its impact. The blockage was cleared, and normal flow was restored at about 11:53 p.m.
Responders determined that grease contributed to the blockage. No wastewater reached any surface waters as it was contained within a stormwater basin. The estimated total volume loss from the overflow is approximately 1,200 gallons. No vegetative damage or fish kills were observed…
