Raleigh, North Carolina Is StorageCafe’s Top City for Young Couples

A new report by StorageCafe looked at data from 130 of the biggest cities in the U.S. to determine which cities are “quietly creating the ideal backdrop for young couples to thrive, with room to build a life together, not just split the rent.”

North Carolina’s capital city, Raleigh, came in at No. 1. The city is home to over 24,000 cohabitating young couples, representing about 5 percent of all homes in Raleigh. The city also has a strong work-life balance, offers plenty of entertainment and amenities for date nights and has solid access to outdoor space.

To come up with the top 10 best U.S. cities for young couples, StorageCafe looked at the following six categories:

  • Community and Relationship Environment: Social density, rates of couples living together, etc.
  • Financial Stability and Affordability: Income rates, rent and mortgage rates, etc.
  • Space and Housing Comfort: Living space sizes, etc.
  • Work-Life Balance: Working hours, commute times, etc.
  • Lifestyle: Date night activities such as dining and entertainment
  • Safety and Environmental Quality: Air quality and crime rates

Interestingly, among the 130 cities StorageCafe ranked for this report, the top 10 have a median income of about $85,800 for “young” households; the bottom 10 cities on the list have a median income of $95,400 for young households…
