Man convicted of shooting at woman in Johnston County, leading law enforcement on high-speed chase

GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — A man who led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through multiple counties after shooting at a woman last summer was convicted in Johnston County, prosecutors said Friday.

On Sept. 5 at around 2:30 p.m., according to the Office of the Johnston County District Attorney, 39-year-old Murad Terrall Taylor followed a woman driving from a Holiday Inn Express to the intersection of Veterans Parkway and N.C. Highway 50 in Garner, where he fired a shotgun at her while she was stopped at a red light. The woman was not hurt.

After Taylor fled the scene, he was followed by a 911 caller who provided law enforcement with his license plate and description of his vehicle. Johnston County deputies and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol were able to locate Taylor, leading to a chase that went through Interstate 40 in Wake County and reached speeds of over 100 m.p.h., according to county prosecutors…
