N.C. Forest Service called to hundreds of wildfires amid dry conditions

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – State officials are counting hundreds of wildfires surging over the past few days, as dry conditions, ongoing drought, and limited rainfall increase the chances.

Rangers have been called to 626 wildfires since March 20, according to the North Carolina Forest Service.

Officials say at least 114 of those fires, not including today, have started since Saturday night’s statewide ban on open burning…
