Future Interstate 587 to be repaved from I-95 to Nash-Wilson county line

A $5.8 million project has been approved to repave the roadway and widen the shoulders of about 4½ miles of U.S. 264 from Interstate 95 west of Wilson to the Nash-Wilson county line, an N.C. Department of Transportation spokesman said in email correspondence.

Additionally, future plans call for improving U.S. 264 through the southwestern part of Nash County, into Wake County near Zebulon, Andrew Barksdale said.

Wilson-based S.T. Wooten Corp. has received the green light to start the project, which calls for milling what is cracking and deteriorating asphalt and putting down new asphalt on the segment of U.S. 264 from I-95 to the county line, Barksdale said…
