16 car break-ins hit Durham as Raleigh fight wounds 6

A string of vehicle break-ins struck two Durham neighborhoods within minutes of each other on Friday night, leaving at least 16 cars damaged and an unknown number of residents without their personal belongings.

The first incident was reported around 8:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of Lynn Road, where at least five vehicles were broken into. Just 15 minutes later, a second wave of break-ins was called in on Muldee Street, where police say approximately 11 more cars were targeted. The back-to-back timing has drawn attention from investigators, who are working to determine whether the two incidents are connected.

Cash, credit cards, and other personal property were among the items taken from the vehicles. Police have not identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with either scene…
