Family honored, presented gifts after North Carolina trooper killed in wrong-way crash last month

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The family of a North Carolina trooper who police say was killed by a Durham wrong-way driver last month received two gifts this week and was honored by his fellow troopers at the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Trooper Steven J. Perry of Durham, who went to high school in the city and graduated from N.C. Central University, died on March 1 when he was hit by a wrong-way driver on N.C. 147, Durham police said.
