New population numbers: Raleigh and Charlotte continue to grow

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NCN News) – The latest population data from the U.S. Census Bureau show some of North Carolina’s largest cities are getting even bigger.

The 2025 population report released Thursday (May 14), showed that Raleigh has surpassed the 500,000 population for the first time. This brings the total number of cities with 500,000 or more to 39.

As of 2010, the Capital City had a population just over 400,000 and the city passed the 450,000 mark in 2020…
