RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Reno Rodeo Association has taken over year-round management of the former Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, now rebranded as the Nevada State Fairgrounds, following a legislative change that returned ownership and oversight of the facility to the Nevada Department of Agriculture.
George Combs, general manager of the Reno Rodeo, said the transition took effect June 1. The change stems from Assembly Bill 333, which returned control of the facility to the state.
“The state of Nevada, the Department of Agriculture, took back ownership and management of the fairgrounds — the Livestock Events Center — last year with the legislative change with the bill AB333,” Combs said. “With that, they wanted to change the management of the facility and rebrand the facility to the Nevada State Fairgrounds.”
