Approximately 90,000 Renoites are currently within evacuation zones as the fast-growing Hawk Fire burns near Peavine Mountain and pushes toward northwest Reno, Somersett and areas north of Verdi. As of Sunday afternoon, the fire had burned more than 13,000 acres and remained 0% contained. About 42,000 people have been evacuated, while another 45,000 are in a “GET SET” warning zone, according to fire officials.
The Hawk Fire comes just weeks after the Bug and Stallion fires burned nearly 100,000 acres combined and forced thousands of people to evacuate.
