Reno faces one of its windiest days in months, NWS says. When gusts peak

Saturday, Sept. 12 could be one of the windiest days the Reno-Tahoe area has experienced in months, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Gusts could reach 35 mph around Reno Friday afternoon and tonight before strengthening Saturday. Widespread gusts could reach 45 mph, with stronger winds in some areas, NWS Reno says.

The strongest winds are expected around sunset Saturday and could continue past midnight. Gusts could make travel difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and cause power outages. Rough conditions are also expected on area lakes…
