The wind is about to become the story at Lake Tahoe, and NV Energy would rather cut the power than let a downed line start the next fire.
The utility issued a public safety outage watch Wednesday for parts of the Tahoe Basin and western Nevada. If conditions hit the trigger points, shutoffs could begin around 11 a.m. Saturday and last until roughly 11 a.m. Sunday, with the second half of that window reserved for crews inspecting lines before turning things back on.
The Tahoe zones on the list are Incline Mt. Rose, Incline East, Glenbrook North and Glenbrook East Spooner. This Is Reno puts Incline East at about 493 customers and Glenbrook North near 94, part of a 13-area watch across Northern Nevada.
