RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The U.S. cattle inventory is at a 75-year low, and ground beef reached a peak average of $6.92 per pound in August, according to the Federal Reserve Bank.
Owner Clint Jolly just recently took over Butcher Boy in 2022, but has been in the business for over 30 years. He said once prices spike, they rarely fall back to where they started.
“Prices across the board are going up. I would say in the past 1 to 2 percent from one route to the next, now it’s generally 5-10 percent every week, and it’s not just Nebraska, it’s every beef supplier in the country,” Jolly said…
