RENO, Nev. (KOLO) — Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks has determined that the Nov. 18, 2024, officer-involved shooting of Kristopher Gari by Reno Police Sgt. Patrick McCauley was lawful under Nevada law.
Hicks released a 29-page report Oct. 2, 2026, containing case facts, photographs, witness accounts and legal analysis. The report follows an investigation conducted by the Sparks Police Department and submitted to the district attorney’s office Dec. 23, 2025.
