Winter has been disappointingly warm.

Nevertheless, the RGJ set out to track down the best spots in the Reno area for pies, hot chocolates, soups and toasty fireside restaurants. To do that, we asked readers to nominate their favorite places for steamy beverages, gooey baked goods and cozy dining experiences.

Even if winter fails to take a colder turn, we’ve curated a list of great bars and restaurants to enjoy winter dining and comfort food.

Who makes the best pies in Reno?

Recipe Box

Owned and operated by Davery and Dominique Spears, Recipe Box specializes in pies, cobblers and cheesecakes. Some of the menu highlights include French Silk, Banana Cream, and Walnut Crumb Cherry pies.

The Spears moved from Las Vegas to Reno in 2018 for Davery’s corporate job, according to the company website, but decided to launch their own business last year.
