Did you feel them?: Small quakes rattling Virginia Foothills area northeast of Galena

Four small earthquakes have recently rattled the Galena-Virginia Foothills area, with the largest, a 2.7, hitting at 4:12 p.m. Thursday.

A 1.3 magnitude quake hit just shortly before midnight Wednesday, followed by a 0.9 at 12:26 a.m. Thursday.

A 2.2 magnitude was recorded at 11:52 a.m.

All were recorded by the University of Nevada, Reno, Seismology Lab and were centered around 4.5 miles east-northeast of Galena High School, in the Virginia Foothills.

On Jan. 19-20, three small temblors measuring 0.8 to 1.0 were recorded nearby, just north of Toll Road.
