Lox, Stock & Two Smoking Bagels set to open classic West Coast-style cafe in downtown Reno

After months of delays, a new bagel joint is finally opening in downtown Reno with guns blazing.

Lox, Stock & Two Smoking Bagels is opening to the public at 25 W. Second St. on Friday, Feb. 2.

Owner Jason Branyan wants to recreate the ’90s cafe scene of his native central California in downtown Reno with the bagel shop, which he had initially hoped to open around Thanksgiving.

“I want to create a spot that has this kind of vibe,” Branyan told the RGJ . “A spot that was specifically for people who were multifaceted and don’t want to feel like they’re in a West Elm catalog.”

Guy Ritchie films inspired this new Reno bagel store

Branyan laments the loss of gritty cafes that served artists, skateboarders and musicians when he was growing up in California in the 1990s, and he hopes Lox, Stock & Two Smoking Bagels will reflect this “bygone era” of West Coast coffee houses. The bagel spot’s interior includes refurbished artistic furniture, tag graffiti-inspired art and skateboarding memorabilia.
