Medical examiner releases name of man shot to death at Grand Sierra Resort

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man shot to death at the Grand Sierra Resort on Jan. 1 as Conor Housden, 32, of Reno.

He died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide, the medical examiner said in a news release Friday night.

Reno police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort earlier this week.

Colton Fagundes, 32, was arrested on a charge of open murder, police said in a news release Thursday night. Records show Fagundes is a Sparks resident.

Open murder charges cover a spectrum of offenses, ranging from first-degree murder to second-degree murder or manslaughter.

Police responded to a shooting report at the GSR around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday and found a man with fatal gunshot wounds in one of the hotel’s rooms. Police said the victim and shooter knew each other.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. No further details have been released.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
