Former Junkee building’s new owner plans to keep murals. The 1927 brick building at 960 S. Virginia St. in Reno, which formerly housed Junkee Clothing Exchange, was purchased by Marmot Properties and is expected to be renovated and leased as six separate retail spaces, as reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal on Feb. 6. The Center Street side of the building features a mural painted in 2016 by Joe C Rock and Erik Burke, depicting the faces of 10 people who’ve each played a role in Nevada history, including Wavoka, Dat So La Lee, Jack Johnson, and Mark Twain.
