In the early hours of Saturday, a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 struck approximately 7 kilometers north-northeast of Truckee, near Lake Tahoe.
The seismic event occurred at 1:46 am and was located at coordinates 39.390°N latitude and 120.163°W longitude, with a depth of 3.1 kilometers, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
Despite the relatively small magnitude, the tremor was felt by residents in the surrounding area.
The epicenter was situated in a sparsely populated region, and as of now, no injuries or damages have been reported. The quake’s depth, at 3.1 kilometers, contributed to the minimal impact on the surface.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, and in case of future earthquakes, to follow safety protocols such as “Drop, Cover, and Hold On.”
