A 17-year-old Nevada girl charged with killing her father and younger brother also allegedly considered stabbing or shooting her 2-year-old sister — as it emerged the teen was upset about her mom walking out on the family.
Mashenka Reid, from Reno, told a detective during a police interview that she had locked her toddler sister in a bedroom, before grabbing her father’s gun and shooting him and her brother, whom she described as a 4 or 5-year-old boy with autism, according to new court records obtained by the Reno Gazette Journal.
But later Reid said she tried — and failed — to force open the door shielding her surviving sibling.
“I asked Mashenka what she was going to do had she gotten into the room with [her sister],” a police report stated. “Mashenka had described to me she was either going to shoot [her sister] or stab her.”
The teen said she had a knife on the washer and dryer, which she was going to “utilize to kill.”
