Warm Temperatures and Breezy Conditions Expected in Western Nevada

Unseasonably warm weather will continue across western Nevada and the Sierra through Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. Highs will push into the mid-90s in warmer valleys, while the Sierra will see temperatures in the mid-80s. A weak trough moving into northern California on Friday could bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the Sierra and along the Highway 395 corridor, with brief heavy rain and gusty winds possible.

Afternoon breezes are expected to increase over the weekend, with stronger winds forecast for Saturday, potentially creating critical fire weather conditions in the Tahoe Basin and Sierra Front. Cooler temperatures are on the horizon next week, though there remains uncertainty about how much of a cooldown will occur. Showers may stay to the north, but windy conditions are likely to persist.
