Warm Temperatures and Breezy Conditions Expected in Western Nevada

Reno and surrounding areas will continue to experience warmer-than-average temperatures into early next week, with highs staying 5-10 degrees above seasonal averages, reaching the mid-90s. Afternoon breezes will pick up over the weekend, with cooler conditions expected next week as a trough moves into the region.

There is a slight chance (10-15%) of isolated showers or thunderstorms today and Saturday, mainly south of Highway 50 in western Nevada and along the eastern Sierra. Some areas may also experience smoke and haze from the Bear Fire near Loyalton, affecting air quality in Sierra Valleys and lower Washoe, Carson City, and Douglas Counties.

Breezy and cooler weather is forecast for next week, though there is still uncertainty about the intensity of the wind and cooling.
