Man renovating vacant apartment in Sparks fatally shot Wednesday; suspect in the hospital

Sparks police are investigating a homicide after a man working inside an apartment was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon.

According to the investigation, two men were renovating a vacant apartment in the 1800 block of E Street when they were confronted by Yun Kim, of Sparks. After a brief confrontation between Kim and the victim, Kim left. He later returned and shot the victim multiple times, police said.

Police responded and found Kim and the gunshot victim. Both were taken to the hospital, where the gunshot victim died.

The second worker was not injured.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Kim is in stable condition, police said. Once released from the hospital, he will be charged with murder with the use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.

The investigation is ongoing.
