4:30 p.m. update:
NV Energy customers could see a proactive power outage for 24 hours or more from Wednesday into Thursday due to expected high winds in the Reno-Carson area.
The power utility has moved to a Public Safety Outage Management warning and has indicated that power could be out starting at about 6 a.m. Wednesday “and lasting well into Thursday, November 21,” according to its most recent statement.
Neighborhoods that could be affected include:
- South Reno around Lakeside Drive, W. Huffaker Lane and Holcomb Ranch Road
- Verdi between Somersett Ridge Parkway and the Nevada-California state line
- The Virginia City Highlands neighborhood in south Reno, as well as areas north and east of Virginia City
- Genoa North , which includes Genoa Lakes Golf Course and parts of the Stewart community
- Galena , along with parts of Montreux and the Mt. Rose – Ski Tahoe area
- Washoe Valley and parts of western Carson City
“All impacted customers have been notified via phone, text and email messages,” NV Energy said.
