The storm gate remains open with more rain and snow forecasted in the Sierra Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. While not completely dry, Saturday will be the best travel day in the mountains. A Winter Weather Advisory is posted for the Sierra including northeast California, the Tahoe Basin, and Mono County through 12 pm Friday because of moderate to heavy snow and gusty winds. Visibility will be low too. The snow will come in waves and won’t be steady until after dark on Thursday into Friday morning. Roads will be wet in the Reno area with gusty winds through Friday. Rain totals will stay below a tenth of an inch for most of the Truckee Meadows through Friday morning. There will be more wind than anything else in the valley. As a result, a Wind Advisory is posted for the Truckee Meadows Thursday through 12 pm, but it will likely be windy again Friday morning.
