The Carson City School District, Carson City Juvenile Services and the Carson City District Attorney’s Office hope to deter student fights without bringing criminal charges.
Staff members introduced a pilot program to the Carson City School Board on March 25 outlining steps for youth who engage in altercations to avoid a prolonged court process. CCSD Superintendent Andrew Feuling said, in a prior meeting between the agencies, the plan would promote more secure campuses.
“(It was) to talk about what else can we do to better support our schools to be safe places and to try to get better outcomes for kids, in the end, who do make a bad choice and hopefully to make better decisions in the future regarding fighting in school,” Feuling said…
