Wingfield Park will shut down May 5 as part of the Arlington Avenue bridges project , with work continuing through summer 2026.
The Regional Transportation Commission is working in partnership with the city for this $32 million construction project to replace two bridges in downtown Reno that are about 100 years old and have become structurally deficient. About 66% of the cost is covered by federal funding, with the rest coming from local fuel tax revenue.

Talks of the project began in 2022 , with construction originally set to be completed in fall 2025. Now, according to a city memo, the area will be closed for construction through at least next year.
