The Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC) has launched its “Inside These Doors” campaign to fund a new 40,000-square-foot shelter and resource center in northern Nevada. The initiative aims to address the increasing demand for domestic violence services in the region. With a $12 million anonymous donation, DVRC is now more than halfway to its $25 million goal.
The new facility, set to break ground in fall 2025, will be Washoe County’s first purpose-built domestic violence center, quadrupling the current shelter capacity and uniting services under one roof.
DVRC, formerly known as the Committee to Aid Abused Women (CAAW), has operated for 48 years out of repurposed buildings, including its current 25-bed shelter, which no longer meets the growing demand…
