Sierra Sheriff Reports Break In

Spring is here, and bear activity is picking up across Sierra County. Just this week, a bear broke into a home in Sierra City by ripping a large hole in the siding to get inside. These bears are hungry and on the move. If they’ve found food before, they’ll return, looking for more.

If you experience any wildlife conflict or observe concerning animal behavior, please contact the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. Our staff will provide you with the appropriate contact information for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife or submit the report on your behalf. It is very important that the Sheriff’s Office receives this information, as we track wildlife conflict incidents throughout the county to help ensure public safety and identify potential problem areas. Your report plays a vital role in protecting both the community and local wildlife.

To make a report, call dispatch at (530) 289-3700 or use the Sheriff’s Office wildlife conflict email address: [email protected]…
