Washoe medical examiner’s office identifies body found after Sparks brush fire

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man whose body was found after a brush fire was extinguished in Sparks on Monday as 40-year-old Robert McCarthy.

McCarthy was pronounced dead at the scene on El Rancho Drive near G Street, close to Paradise Park, according to the medical examiner’s office. Firefighters discovered the body after extinguishing the fire.

The Sparks Police Department is leading the investigation. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation, the medical examiner’s office said. McCarthy is believed to have been experiencing homelessness, authorities said…
