The city of Reno is implementing a 90-day staffing hiatus on non-mandated boards and commissions as it grapples with a projected $26 million budget shortfall for fiscal year 2026.
City Manager Jackie Bryant announced the hiatus, effective immediately, as part of a broader effort to realign operations with current staffing levels and service delivery priorities.
Bryant said the hiatus will allow staff to focus on developing a comprehensive review process for community engagement practices. “Community engagement remains an important and valued aspect of our City processes,” she said. “The City must ensure our strategies meet the needs and preferences of the community and staff resources are used to meet these needs in the most efficient way possible.”…
