More Than 50,000 People Told To Stay Indoors In Nevada

More than 50,000 people face unhealthy levels of air pollution across parts of Nevada on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The EPA’s AirNow pollution map shows that a large area east of Reno faces “unhealthy” levels of pollution in the “red” category on the Air Quality Index (AQI). Towns inside the affected region include Fernley, Silver Springs and Fallon.

Officials emphasize that during times of poor air quality, vulnerable groups — including children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing respiratory conditions — are at increased risk of suffering health issues…
